Tim graduated in English from King’s College London and later became a Senior Scholar at St Catherine’s College,
Oxford, also teaching at Oriel College. A specialist in Victorian literature, he has published four monographs and
numerous articles, and in 2017 was elected Honorary Fellow of King’s College London. He went on to serve as
Headmaster of Portsmouth Grammar School, Magdalen College School, Oxford, and Winchester College, and chaired
the Universities Committee of the Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference (HMC).
